Nintendo Directs are always exciting events that offer a glimpse into the future of the company’s plans, and February’s presentation is sure to be no exception. With a new Zelda game, a potential Pikmin 4 update, and the Super Mario Bros. movie all on the horizon, there is plenty of news to be excited about.
Nintendo fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the first Nintendo Direct of 2023 and the wait is finally over. Nintendo has officially announced that the event will take place on February at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET and will last for roughly 40 minutes. During the presentation, Nintendo will be focusing on upcoming Switch games releasing in the first half of 2023.
The spotlight of the event will most likely be on the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is set to launch in May. Fans of the Advance Wars series will also be pleased to know that the remake of the first two games, Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp, has been delayed but is reportedly coming soon. Nintendo also announced Pikmin 4 during the last Nintendo Direct in September, but there have been no updates on the game since.
In addition to the games, moviegoers will also be excited to hear that the Super Mario Bros. movie is set to hit theaters on April 7. Although the movie has been featured in its own separate Nintendo Direct presentations in the past, it is uncertain whether or not the February presentation will include an update on the movie.
The rumors of a new Nintendo Direct first began last week when industry insider Jeff Grubb reported the possibility of a new livestream being imminent on his Game Mess Mornings livestream. This was further backed up when the eShop page of the Advance Wars remake was updated last week.
