August 2024 marks an exciting time for Star Wars fans, as it marks the release of the second season of Andor. Executive producer Tony Gilroy took to the stage at Star Wars Celebration’s Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel, alongside Diego Luna, Andy Serkis, and more of the cast, to announce the release window. Not only that, but Gilroy also teased that the final scene of Andor will lead directly into Rogue One.
The cast and crew also reminisced about the start of Andor and how the show has grown so quickly. “The last time we came we were a secret,” said Gilroy. “We’d never shown anything to anybody. It was baffling. It’s tremendously exciting to be here, to feel part of the community in a legit way.”
We previously learned that Andor’s first season took place over a year and that the second season would focus on the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One. Filming for the second season began last November, and it’s promised to lead directly into Rogue One.
Andor was released last year and met with critical acclaim. In our review of the first season, we noted that “Andor is one of the very best TV shows of the year and as good as Star Wars has been in a long, long time.”
