As the first season of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 comes to an end, fans of the popular battle royale are eager to see what new adventures and rewards await them in the upcoming season. Launched in November 2022, Warzone 2 saw the series depart from Verdansk and introduced players to the arid city of Al Mazrah, with several improvements over the original Warzone.
Infinity Ward promised that Warzone 2 would be refreshed to match the new game it was launching with, and they have certainly delivered. Season 1 Reloaded introduced new weapons and a new DMZ exclusive map for Warzone 2, and served as proof of the developers’ dedication to the game. As confirmed by an extensive blog post by Infinity Ward, almost every piece of content in Season 2 will be heavily influenced by Japanese themes and culture.
At the forefront of Season 2 is Ashika Island, the featured map of the season. Ashika Island will serve as one of the playable zones alongside Al Mazrah in both battle royale and the DMZ. Season 2 will also see the return of fan-favorite Resurgence game mode in Warzone 2, where players can redeploy indefinitely until everyone in a squad falls. The new season will introduce a new Battle Pass with 100 tiers of rewards to unlock, including a Crossbow and four other weapons, an extensive list of premium cosmetics, and the featured operator Ronin. Season 2 will also launch with four new maps for the multiplayer, as well as reintroduce fan-favorite game modes such as Infected, Gun Game, and Hardcore among others.
In addition, Season 2 will rework and tweak several existing parts of Warzone 2, DMZ, and the multiplayer. One of the main player complaints has been around Warzone 2’s armor plate system, which will be fixed in Season 2. Ashika Island will also see the return of Redeploy Balloons from Caldera in the form of Redeploy Drones, allowing players to cover larger distances and relocate tactically. Fans of the Atomograd raid will be delighted to know that Episode 2 of the raid will return in a mid-season update, serving as the continuation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign.
Activision and Infinity Ward are hard-pressed to deliver the best content possible for Warzone 2, as evident from the enthusiastic marketing and promotion of Season 2. With an already confirmed mid-season update boasting even more changes and additions, fans of the battle royale can rest assured about the future with the launch of the new season on February 15.
