Bohemia Interactive is bringing something new to the genre with their latest title, Silica. Silica is a hybrid RTS/FPS game that combines real-time strategy combat with first-person shooting action. Developed by a single person, Martin “Dram” Melichárek, Silica promises three unique gameplay modes: Strategy, Prospector and Arena.
In Strategy mode, players battle for dominance by building, harvesting, and attacking their enemies. This mode is playable in up to three-way conflict between factions and combines RTS and FPS elements. Prospector mode is a tutorial for Silica, where players are tasked with exploring the area in search of harvesting the precious material Balterium. Then there is Arena mode, which is pitched as a “crazy,” “unbalanced FPS free-for-all.”
Silica is coming to Windows PC via Steam Early Access and will be available for an early access period of 9-12 months. This is great news for fans of the FPS/RTS genre, as Silica brings something new to the table. Bohemia Interactive is known for its popular Arma series and DayZ, and with Silica, they are sure to deliver a unique and exciting experience.
