The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most beloved games of all time, and now fans can experience it with friends thanks to a multiplayer mod created by AlexMangue and Sweet. Last July, YouTuber PointCrow offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could create and send him a multiplayer mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After months of hard work, the mod was released just over a month before the launch of Tears of the Kingdom.
The mod is chalk full of Links, and allows players to sync their progress in the game, including shrine progress and koroks. It also allows players to leave the server up and quit out of the game at any time without interrupting the progress of the other player. The mod is available on the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, and it has been met with praise from players.
Although Nintendo has not been as supportive of PointCrow’s mod, with copyright claims blocking some of his videos, he was able to get some of these videos reposted, albeit unmonetized. Players have also crafted quite a few other mods for the game, including a split-screen multiplayer mod, a mod that essentially turns the game into NieR: Automata, and mods that replace Link with everyone from Waluigi to Minecraft’s Steve.
Thanks to the hard work of AlexMangue and Sweet, and the generous reward offered by PointCrow, Breath of the Wild fans now have the opportunity to explore Hyrule with friends. If you’re looking for a unique way to experience The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the multiplayer mod is a great way to do it.
