Game development is a serious business, and as such, developers are tasked with fixing all kinds of bugs – even the funny ones. Recently, the PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 had a great one that caused characters to appear wet in the middle of the game. While this didn’t have any real impact on the gameplay, it was still a hilarious goof.
Unfortunately, Naughty Dog has now “fixed” the bug in a recent patch, reducing the number of funny jokes to zero. While it’s sad to see the funny bug go, the patch also includes an update to the texture streaming to reduce CPU usage, which should help address some of the bigger issues noticed by Digital Foundry.
At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that game developers have a serious job to do, and that includes fixing all kinds of bugs – even the amusing ones. While it’s sad to say goodbye to the funny bug in The Last of Us Part 1, it’s good to know that the developers are working hard to make sure the game runs smoothly.
