It has been a long wait for fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, but the movie is finally coming. After a series of production changes, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have announced the film will be released on October 27th, 2021 both in theaters and on the streaming service Peacock. Written by Emma Tammi, Seth Cuddeback, and Scott Cawthon, the creator of the games, the movie is inspired by the games and features a cast of characters that includes Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard (Scream), and Elizabeth Lail (You). The animatronic characters will be created by the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
For those unfamiliar with the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, it follows a security guard who must survive the murderous animatronic animals of a restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. It’s like spending the night at Chuck E. Cheese, except it’s an absolute nightmare. The first game was released in 2014 and the most recent game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, was released in 2021.
