The 2023 LCS Spring Split has been a rollercoaster ride for Golden Guardians, but the team has managed to stay afloat and even find success thanks to the efforts of its players, staff, and most notably, its support, Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun. The veteran has taken on the role of the team’s communicator in chief, leading the squad to a top-three finish in the regular season and a spot in the Spring Playoffs finals.
Huhi’s synergy with AD carry Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes has been a defining factor of Golden Guardians’ success this spring. The duo has been winning two-vs-two lanes without any jungle intervention, and Stixxay has been playing better than he has in six years. Huhi’s value to the team goes beyond his individual play, however. His ability to communicate in both Korean and English has been vital to the team’s success, and his leadership and trustworthiness have allowed Golden Guardians to reach heights that no one expected.
The Golden Guardians will put their trust in each other to the test in their best-of-five series against FlyQuest on Saturday, April 8. If they can win the series, they will qualify for the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational and make history as one of North America’s two representatives. With huhi leading the way, Golden Guardians have every chance of achieving their goal.
