Jack Black recently shared his thoughts on who should join the cast of The Super Mario Bros. Movie if a sequel ever happens – none other than Pedro Pascal as Wario. Black, who took over big screens around the world as Bowser in the movie, believes Pascal would be perfect for the role of Mario’s rival, Wario.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a smash hit with both critics and audiences alike and the post-credits scene suggests that this won’t be the last we see of this bunch. If a sequel ever comes to fruition, Jack Black believes that Pedro Pascal should join the cast as Wario.
Black has a wealth of experience, having starred in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and he knows that it’s not a given that Bowser will return for a sequel. In fact, his experience in Kung Fu Panda taught him that it’s not a given that a villain would be back for film #2.
However, it’s hard to imagine a Mario film without the King of the Koopas in it. Black suggested that if there is a more powerful, more evil villain, then Bowser may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend the universe against some other unseen force of evil. That’s when Black suggested that Pedro Pascal should join the cast as Wario.
Pascal has already traveled to Westeros in Game of Thrones, explored the galaxy in The Mandalorian, and has experienced a post-apocalyptic world in The Last of Us, so a trip to Mushroom Kingdom shouldn’t be out of the question.
At this point, it’s unclear if Pascal will ever don the purple overalls and become Wario or even if The Super Mario Bros. Movie will get a sequel. But one thing is for sure – Jack Black believes that Pascal would be perfect for the role and it’s something that many fans would love to see.
