The world of hack-and-slashing Hammerwatch is set to return this summer with the release of Hammerwatch 2. Developed by Crackshell, this top-down fantasy ARPG is the sequel to the original Hammerwatch game that was released ten years ago. Players will build their own hero, choose from a selection of classes, and battle hordes of enemies either alone or in a co-op group of four.
The sequel is set in the open world of Hammer Island, an island that has been overrun by an evil army. Players must flee to the sewers and use them to move around the world and rally a resistance. The game will feature a full day/night cycle and weather systems that can affect players while doing side-quests or crafting items.
Hammerwatch 2 will include modding support at launch for PC players, allowing them to edit levels and create their own stories. A brand new map creator will also be available, which is great for four-player parties looking for something specific.
The Chronicles Edition of Hammerwatch 2 will also be available and come with cosmetic items, character voice packs, and a remastered version of the original Hammerwatch game.
The original Hammerwatch game was a huge success for Crackshell, selling over a million copies. This summer, players will once again be able to experience the hack-and-slash fantasy ARPG on PC via Steam and consoles with the release of Hammerwatch 2.
