Have you ever been waiting for a delivery, only to have it never arrive? If you have, you know how frustrating it can be. But what if you were tasked with finding the lost delivery? That’s the premise of Mr. Sun’s Hatbox, a genre-blending comedy launching on April 20th.
In Mr. Sun’s Hatbox, you are a delivery specialist for the Delivery Guarantee Team Insurance Policy. Your mission is to deliver Mr. Sun’s hatbox parcel, but when a gang steals the hatbox, you are obligated to build a giant HQ underneath Mr. Sun’s shop, recruit a partially voluntary army, and jump-and-gun to retrieve the parcel.
Mr. Sun’s Hatbox is a platforming roguelike with extensive base-building, shooting, whacking, stealthing, and a heavy dose of Metal Gear Solid 5. As you jump around and shoot hatbox thieves across pixelated labyrinths, you’ll find and keep new weapons and hats with their own unique properties. You can also kidnap – er, recruit – new playable characters with their own unique quirks.
The game features co-op play and PvP modes, and you can play the game on PC via Steam or Nintendo Switch. The free demo is still available, and was one of RPS’ highlights from this year’s Steam Next Fest.
